 Hey blog! hows everything? I hope you guys are as excited as I am! The editing of the opening has been officially done,, completed, exported, and posted to youtube! I'm so excited to finally share this with you but you guys must wait a little longer until the reveal!

Today I'm here to talk about one last thing, a very important factor of this portfolio, the CCR! This part of the project is in my opinion more important than the actual opening. Here I will be talking about all the decisions I have to get to where I am now. From brainstorming, planning, to filming, to editing, and more. This will help me realize the amounts of improvements that I had made throughout the course. With the help of the 4 questions that our amazing teacher has given us I will be able to do this. 

For a better understanding of the CCR, I watched some of others students form the past. Watching these gave me motivation to start recording and finally be finished with my project. One of the C's on the CCR's name stands for creativity, I think this is a great opportunity to show the fun side of the project, not like it wasn't fun but...its a school project you know?

So, talking about creativity, I think that for the CCR I'm going to do a little intro saying the basics and stuff, but I'm going to be sewing and add some ore stuff. I would love to add some more shots of the sketches, or even the bike ride. I just want to make it entertaining, so stay tuned for that!

Filming Day !

 HEY THERE! Filming day was some days ago and if you read my last blog post, I talked about the Outfits that my friends wore to film and how they worked together in order to give each character its own personality. Today we're going to actually talk about the filming process and what really went down!

    First off I told my friends Valentina, Fernanda, and Isabella which were the most important ones to come over at 4:30 so we could all be at my house at 5 and record! Everyone arrived perfectly so we got some shots even if it wasn't time to record yet, which was GREAT! I also called my boyfriend for some help behind the cameras and even appears on the birthday shot! Sadly Sabrina couldn't come to record with us since she had work that day right after school from 3:00 pm to 9:00pm so unfortunately, she couldn't make it to the set! HAH, it's okay, I missed her and it would have been so fun to record with her but it's fine, we got everything done with no problem!

OUTSIDE SCENE

    It was honestly such a fun day, we ate ice cream cake, aka the prop, we took out my bike for a ride for the first time in 7 months and we laughed like if we were kids! I wanna thank Is, Fer, and Helbert for all the help and patience and for their awesome work while recording!

I cant wait for the video to be completely edited! which I have already started and maybe it'll be done by tomorrow! yesiiiiirrrr ! After editing the reflection process will begin and will be completely done with our project!

Costume design Film day edition

 Hey there vlog! today is filming day and I'm super excited!!! I'm not going to spoil much of the filming day but I'm going to talk about what I decided was appropriate for the charters to wear!

So first off, remember how we talk about the color green before? well.. luckily our main character Isabella Rengifo who playsVictoria in the opening is a huge fan of the color and has several green-colored pieces in her closet. When I was talking to Isa, I told her not to look super fancy or dressed up, we were going for something more chill for her attire. This is what she came over wearing:

The other important character that needed an outfit wasVictorias Best Friend, Barbara, who was played by Fernanda Jimenez. When I talked to Fer about what she had to wear I also told her to come over wearing something she would wear to a chill small reunion. She told me that she was already wearing something like that so I told her to send me a picture, here it is:

I liked that both outfits were different and portray their different personalities. When Victorias is more artistic and creative, Barbie follows trends and goes with the flow, and is a trend follower.

 

Camara equipment and Editing software

 Hey Blog! tomorrow is finally filming day and, I just wanted to come talk about what we will be using to record and edit!

    To begin with, I think the best option for editing is in Adobe Premiere Pro, luckily for me, my school gives me this source for free on my school computer, I was thinking of even editing in iMovie but Sabrina and I agreed that it could come out a little unprofessional and we want our opening to look presentable and neat! Also, I have worked more with adobe than with iMovie for the past 3 years so either way, Adobe was the most reasonable option.

When it comes to recording, we were going to film on a  regular camera at first but decided that there was going to be almost the same quality if we recorded on our phones. We believe that technology has advanced so much these past years and our phones have the most advanced cameras at the moment. With this, the process of exporting the files, sharing the documents, and rewatching the media that we recorded is going to be ten times easier than if we filmed in a regular camera. Were going to be recording with my phone since I'm going to edit the opening, I currently own an iPhone 10XR which has a camera where the Video recording is amazing compared to any camera from 2014. The camera can shoot 4K in 24fps, 30fps, or 60fps along with 1080p in either 30fps or 60fps for slow-motion action (That's what the people at apple state).

Along with this, we're also going to be using a tripod, it is important for the shots to be stable and not shakey. One of the girls that's in the cast (Fernanda, who plays Barbara, Victoria's best friend) has a tripod that we can borrow for filming day since Sabrina and I don't own one. We will probably use the tripod for most of the shots if everything goes with the plan.

Prop Prop Prop, Prop to the top!

 Hey blogsitoo! This upcoming week is the most expected one out of all of these pasts weeks, Sabrina and I are going to finally record and I have some news about Filming day!

So what I wanted to talk about today is... PROPS! every movie has different props, and I've taken the time to gather some things around my house that fit and are useful for the opening so when its filming day we have everything to make it the best!

 BIKE! on the opening victoria has a scene where she gets out of her house and rides her bike to her closest park! Lucky for me I have a bike that will work perfectly for the scene

How could you want to be a fashion designer and not own a sewing machine!
I've had this sewing machine since December 2019 because I wanted to see if I could make my own clothes, now it just lays on my room floor so ill give it some use!

 HOLAAAA so today is Wednesday and I was working on the final Storyboard for the opening and everything that I and Sabrina were coming up with but actually what we plan on recording.

Let me explain:

Sabrina and I met a while ago and made a rough draft of the storyboard together where we just came up with different types of scenes and shots and angles so... Heres our first rough draft

Of course, as you can see it was EXTREMELY long and since the opening is only 2 minutes MAX then we decided that I was going to fix it up for when it was recording time, and here's what I came up with:

It's certainly nothing too complex but I have the feeling that it will turn out pretty Steezyyyy not gonna lieeeee... But well see and hope for the best

Kinda schedule for break

Goodmorning Blog! today I woke up early because I forgot we were on spring break! LOL so i decided to vlog a little, and be productive:)

This is what I've been thinking about lately about what needs to be done: before the DUE DATE (APRIL 6)

-StoryBoard 

-Set a date for filming where all members can participate (since its spring break some of them are leaving so we have to see what we do about that.

-Film

-Edit!

-Prepare CCR

   - The storyboard is done, I will be making a blog about it maybe tomorrow, its pretty self explanatory and easy to follow for when we film :()

    -For the date, I was thinking maybe after the break because I know most of the cast that we selected are doing things away with their family so maybe Tuesday 3/30/2021 would be a good day because everyone is back, and it's kinda easy to record that day.

    -For filing I know were going to maybe start like at 4:30pm since we have some scenes outside where we need the sunlight duh; and for the Bday scene we do it inside my house I hope it doesn't get so late so we still have some natural light.

-The editing shouldn't take me so long since I'm good at it and I've practiced several times with Premier Pro so I not really worried about that as long it looks decent hehe.

-The CCR is easy but it s kind of a lot... so gotta start early o that too if i can, I believe this part is individual so i don't think Sabri and I will be working together in this :(

"Choose Your Character" from "Super Smash Bros" starts playing

 Hey blog!!! This week has been very entertaining lol, next week is spring break, and I'm so excited to take a break from school, but not from this project OF COURSE! So today's blog is about who's going to play what...

Here's what we've got:

DIRECTOR AND PRODUCER Sofia Lander (me) 

    I'm going to be taking over the storyboard, the recording, and the editing of the opening.

DIRECTOR AND PRODUCER Sabrina Olivieri (My partner)

    Sabrina is going to be helping me with what the production of the opening is, which also includes recording.

MAIN CHARACTER Isabella Rengifo ("Victoria")

    Ever since we started this protect Isabella told me she wanted to be part of it, so I gave her the main character to her! Isa is going to play Victoria in our opening because we decided that she also fits very well with the character, and she portrays a very "Latina" sense than most of our friends. Isabella has never acted before but she was happy and willing to help me and Sabrina on our project!

MOM OF MAIN CHARCTER Mari Olivieri ("Mom")

    For this character, Sabrina and I decided that my mom would be perfect for this, in the opening we have a scene where "Victoria's" mom is drinking/smoking a cigarette, and luckily for us my mom does smoke (so unhealthy I know!) and has taken several theater courses so she's perfect for this job although we only need her for one scene!

VICTORIA'S BEST FRIEND Fernanda Jimenez ("Barbara/ Barbie")

    Fernanda is also one of my friends, she is always about giving without expecting anything back and that's how Sabrina and I portrayed "Victoria's" Bestfriend, when I post the storyboard everything will be more clear!

SIDE CHARACTERS (Helbert Villa, Isabella Rengifo, and Valentina Dominguez)

    The first scene of the opening is the birthday scene! and on every birthday there are always friends there to celebrate with you, so I called some of my friends and they agreed to be the side characters of this scene! They all fit super well with the vie of the opening so I think it's going to come out super good!

All of this information will be shown in the opening as the credits so look out for that so it doesn't catch you off Guard!!

ALSO!!!!! I KNOW WERE STILL IN A PANDEMIC!!! 

All the people I've mentioned above are my friends who gladly told me and Sabrina that could work on the project! We all know each other and we will follow the CCD guidelines when we record as well as possibly can!

Title rundown

 

HELLO, I present to you guys... THE TITLE!

One of the many things that we were missing was the title for the opening, the day that Sabrina and I met, we decided to brainstorm on some names beforehand so when we met we could have something to rely on. We both had great ideas, like "solitude" "Transforming happiness" and "try it on!" but we decided that Fashion Vision was more catchy and short to remember!

I designed the thumbtack on Picstart and made it green because of victories character, you can learn more about it on the other blog I made about her. I seethe aesthetic of this opening relates a lot with the color green, the color of hope the color of nature and happiness.

I'll be making a blog about our storyboard very soon and you guys will understand why!

A screen doesn't divide us anymore!

 Hey Blog!!!!! very very cool news, and a lot to talk about this week so keep an eye out for any other blogs soon!

Firsts off I want to talk about Today Monday 15, 2021... So today I had the privilege to meet with Sabrina, my partner, and my right hand in this project for the first time EVER! Yes, you heard that right! FIRST TIME EVER! I have already talked about Sabrina before and how we became friends thanks to our teacher and one of our many projects that we have done in her class! After a whole year of being encapsulated, bubbled up, spending a year with max the 4 people you live with, I made it, I met someone NEW!  It was very weird at first, we didn't know if we could hug or just say hi from far...(we hugged since we were booth covid neg) and honestly...it didn't feel real after being locked out like rapunzel

There was really no risk, we planned it specifically so the day that we met and where we met wasn't full of people, it's a Monday, the place was almost empty, which was very nice.

Sabrina and I talked about A LOT f things, we really got a lot of work done that evening. We mainly discussed, the scenes that need to be recorded, who is playing the main character and if we have people to play the characters in the back, also talked about different title options and the equipment that were going to be using for the making of the opening and some things about our CCR.

Soon it'll be Face to face

 Hey blog! how are you guys? I've been doing better, still pretty sad but cannot stop thinking about this project! I don't want to fall behind... So here's whatsup!

Sabrina and I scheduled to call today, we have been staying in contact and communicating super good but we came to the conclusion that we probably should meet, just so everything is easier and goes way smoother than it already was. We're planning on meeting for the 1st time ever in our lives Monday 15, with covid and all that has been going on since last March, I haven't had the opportunity to go back to school which means I have no idea who or how my classmates look like in real life! Sabrina and I don't know each other personally, but we have worked together in class on other projects and it has been a 5-star experience. So, next Monday, we will meet for the first time and talk about all of our ideas and make concrete decisions about MANY things that are missing for us to start recording! If I'm being honest this is extremely weird to me since I haven't had contact with anyone I didn't know before the pandemic happened and I'm very excited, finally some other type of human interaction that is not with 20 family friends that came from the nothing and somehow appeared to be in my grandmas mass, or my 4 people friend group! 

I will make a blog about how our meeting is and other separate blogs each talking about the different things we discussed!

 HOLA! Sofia here to talk about some not-so-great news. So... as many of you know, we're in the middle of the pandemic, school is mostly on-line and it has been a very hard year for everyone. Sadly most of my family has been infected from Covid -19, no not here where I currently live, but my family who still lives in my home country, Venezuela. All my cousins uncles and even grandma have been infected and are still in total lockdown as of right now. Sadly today I have one more angel in the sky looking out for me, and everything I do, the woman who inspired me and gave the best advice will now be only a memory in my head, she will always be remembered and I hope she's proud of me up there!. This week I might not post as much as I usually do because I need some time to think and be thankful for all the memories I created with my beautiful grandmother. Hope you guys understand, I promise ill be back to posting more blogs that are not as personal and have more content about the project. Please stay safe, see you guys soon<3

The sound of music but make it coming of age

 Hey blogsito!!! I have very exciting news!! I've got a response, yup! we've got music for the opening!! Sabrina and I concluded that it was our best option and we both LOVE the song for the opening. SO  HEY AT LEAST WE HAVE SOMETHING  TO CELEBRATE RIGHT!?

The artist that reached back to me is called "Valley palace" and is a very underrated artist I found him while looking for songs on Spotify for something that would match the vibe of the opening! I immediately reached out to him via Instagram DM because he didn't have an email linked to his profile but... HE SAID YES! 

I present to you... THE PROOF:

Sabrina and I are very excited about this, The song that we will be using from this artist is called "Tapes" by Valley Palace, who is currently working on an album, and has released many different singles you guys should totally check him out! Soon you guys will see our progress and our final project!

Ugh what a mood!

 It is MOOD BOARD TIME  blog!!! Hello!, I had a lot o time to think about the characters and I'm excited! So, after that blog post I made, I left to Orlando for the weekend to visit some family friends and enjoy some time at the parks. The drive from my house to Orlando is about 3 hours, which brings me back to my thinking point, since I was so bored with the car ride, I decided to let my imagination fly.

I  decided to create a mood board for the main character which I ended up naming Victoria because in Spanish the word "Victoria" is a way to express your excitement, people say it after achieving something especially in a competition, it's like saying "Victory". The reason I gave her this name is because from every victory there has to be some training, emotional awakening, or something important behind it. Which in her case, she realizes that her parents are keeping her away from her dream of becoming a fashion designer and decides that if she doesn't move on with her she will forever be unhappy.

Let me explain some things from this mood board, first, the color of the background is green because I figured Victoria needs to work on her Chakras, especially the green one, which should be Loving, empathetic, open-hearted, and emotionally balanced when balanced. I added a fashion sketchbook where she's most likely to do all her design sketches, every designer needs a sketchbook! the top part of the sketchbook portrays how she's going to run away from her toxic family and end up on the red carpet someday. The trophy represents her name and the success she will have as she reaches her dreams of becoming good at what she loves.

The art of Emailing

 HeY blog! I hope everything is well I am certainly not well, maybe a little stressed *Laughs nervously* Anyway, what happened is that I underestimated all the amount of emails that record companies and managers receive, yeah... As you might guess I haven't gotten a single response from any of them, which is you know, fine right? *laughs nervously*. To add on, it took me SO LONG to find the contact information for some artists, like it was impossible so, I just gave up on the most famous ones, like Jaden and Tame impala because I spent the whole week looking for contact info and everything was blurred out or blocked, or I had to pay 30 bucks! what a steal. I was very disappointed because I really wanted to find Jadens contact info so we could use one of his songs but, things don't always go the way you want to.

So since I had to discard those two artists, (Tame impala, and Jaden Smith) I had to listen to a little more music to see if I could find good Upcoming artists like EA^ST which I did find contact info for and sent her manager an Email! so I'm excited to see her response! I will make a blog if anything!

     Hey blog! Today I finally talked to Sabrina, we have both been very busy, she has had college apps, and I have been studying for SAT the whole week, but we called each other today, and here's a rundown of things that we talked about

    Firstly we started by giving each other roles, I'm going to be taking over the Storyboarding since I have storyboarded a lot before in other projects. While I finish this, (which might be done during next week, maybe Wednesday) Sabrina's going to start working on the script for the opening...Very exciting if you ask me!

    Secondly, we talked about Characters, were just focusing on the opening characters as of right now because we're only doing an opening so there's really no need to worry about other characters. When it comes to these characters, we will probably create mood boards so it's easier for us to visualize the characters and how they should act. Besides the characters we also said that we needed to start brainstorming on a name for this film opening... were both extremely creative so i think we will be fine when it comes to that field, but if you want to leave a comment with any ideas that you have, we might consider them!

    For the music, I will be sending those emails no later than Wednesday of next week, that way they have time to answer, especially since some of the artists are big creators! When it comes to recording, we haven't decided anything yet, we want to get the mood boards, storyboards, and scripts all together before starting to think about footage!

Every intro needs a song

     Heyooo wasup!! I'm very excited about today's blog because it's finally the weekend and also today's topic is about something I could talk about for HOURS! music! yep, music is one of the most important factors in a movie. No matter what genre it is, there is always some type of beat, song, or melody included in all films!

    Throughout the week, I have been listing to music non-stop, the usual, and since I'm doing a coming of age movie, I've been focusing on listening to songs that might match the opening that were planning on doing. Not going to lie, this is a hard task! there are so many options and it will take a long time to make a decision on this, but its nothing I cant do #settinggoals.  I know there are many platforms where I could listen to songs of artists that aren't THAT famous, like youtube, Soundcloud, but I am a Spotify user until the grave! 

    I already have some song options as of right now, that I'm going to talk over with Sabri on Sunday just to make sure we're both on the same train. I think that I'm going to email the record companies of these artists and ask for permission to use the songs for this project, I hope they answer in time and say yes of course! if not, that'll be embarrassing... So I'm going to keep looking for songs that match the style of the movie and could work for the intro, email the record companies where they're signed with, and hope for the best!

OUCH! Feedback day in class...

     Good morning blog! Media class just ended  I just wanted to come in here and talk about today's activity in class. If I'm honest, I was a little scared to talk about my idea to my peers, but I got really good reactions from everyone I talked with!  By the way, the "Ouch" on the title was just click-bait.

    I loved this idea of talking with the people in our class about our projects because everyone has a different brain, everyone has different ideas, overall, it was a great way to get fresh ideas, and feedback! Something I also completely loved was how everyone had different genres for their projects, one had mystery, the other one had a thriller, even crime film, there was so much variety that it was easy for us to give ideas without being scared of someone having the same idea or from someone stealing your idea. We were all really comfortable with each other, even though we're still online, the feeling of "school" was there, and I really haven't felt like that since March 2020. 

    Sadly, Sabrina couldn't attend the meeting because she got incredibly sick! no, not covid! it was Senioritis...even worse HAHA.  But don't worry, I got all the good information and the amazing ideas that my peers shared with me written down in a paper! nothing that cant be shared, but they're ideas that I still need to talk over with Sabri. I will probably update you guys on Sunday with all the info!

"dEtAiLeD PlaNnInG" kinda...

 Hello there! it is week 3 of my great journey of finding out how I am going to do my Film opening for my final project that's going to Cambridge! I am very excited to announce that me and my partner decided that are going to be doing the 1st idea! The film opening is going to be about a girl with the dream of becoming a Fashion designer,  I'm so excited to see how me and Sabrina are going to work on this together, we already have so many ideas (they need some work but at least we have something) that we can't share yet but will be announced EXTREMELY soon! 

    First things first, let's talk about the target audience, I have mentioned this topic before, but nothing too specific...Well, it's a coming of age opening, which is basically stories of teenagers overcoming their problems, which means that the target audience has to definitely be young adults (16-18) and adults with a teen spirit. Besides the age range, what were trying to put out, is more girly-ish since it's about fashion, therefore my mind tells me that the manliest man won't really enjoy this 17-year-old 2 minute and 45-second opening.

    Moving on to the characters, we dont have the names of anyone as of right now, but we do know that the main character is a 17/18-year-old girl who is very creative and can't really express herself as much as she would like because of her house environment (very toxic) This girl is a dreamer, a problem solver but her parents are basically against all of her decisions and dreams which of course its hard for her since parents should always be supportive. This character is going to probably be played by either Sabrina or myself... we'll discuss that in another blog... Since the subgenre that we're going to be working with is drama, the main character (The girl) has to be very realistic, and her emotions should be portrayed in a good way (she's definitely a July Cancer sun)  to make the audience relate to her. Since drama relates to realism and sensitive portrayals of the real world, I believe this character should be the most emotional one.

    I'm looking foward the next blogs for this week, Sabrina and I are going to be discussing some of the shots, characters, settings where we could film, even probably start the storyboard! I'm so excited I hope this project will be as good as I imagine it to be.

2020 aka the "You're missing out on the best years of your life because you have been quarantined since march"

 Hey Hey HEY! it's me, AGAIN, I know, I know, this week has been full of blogs! But today's blog is more chill, an easy read kind of... we'll see how this one turns out LOL

    So you're probably wondering about the title for today's blog! So, I want to explain myself, since most of you guys know, we have been quarantined since March 13 of 2020, at least here in the US. Right, so basically, I'm a 17-year-old immigrant girl from South America that always has been waiting for "my life to start". I know, I've been living in this beautiful, yet complicated world since 2003,my life started a while ago, but just when all my expectations of life are up there somewhere in the sky...COVID HIT. 

    My sophomore year of high school felt almost like if I was living behind bars! no interaction with anyone, no going out, no school, no fun! Overall experience 2/12 because I actually got to live 2 months of regular life. All the thing si wanted to do, gone... service hours opportunities gone, new friendships gone, what we thought "real life" was, gone. So I basically lost one of what could have been the best year of my life...Pain. 

    I know most teenagers feel like this, especially high schoolers, (which are our target audience) but no one really talks about how we didn't get our "Coming of age" phase. Maybe some of us did, but it was very individual and not fun at all! It definitely wasn't like "Perks of being a wildflower" or "Mid 90's". Where was the character development in our lives? we lost those days that we waited so long to come to us. 

That is one of the reasons why I chose to do a Coming of age film opening, because, I could just create characters that do things I wish I could of done in 2020. I think it would be a great way to portray that teenage feeling and even relate with the target audience!

Thats it... yeah 2020 sucked but, new year new Us, right?

What's new dawg? nothing...just research

 Hellooooo, this week I realized how hard this project is going to be, sigh... but I love me a challenge!

So today I'm going to be going over some aspects of the Coming of Age genre. Remember how some time ago I did research on the drama genre? Well, this is going to be a quick genre research about the genre I chose for my film opening! SO, let's get into it!

Firstly, a coming of age movie is based on 3 things: The main characters facing one or several important conflicts, the character taking an important choice in their lives, or going to a significant recognition of their future lives. These may include films portraying first loves, moving to high school, religious growth, winding up behind bars, and other critical occasions in the life of a young person.

Now that we know this, this information is portrayed through sentimental emotions. Humor is often used to handle the sense that there is more time to decide on things that follow maturity, regardless of whether it is decisions that turn out not to be publicly disclosed. To add on, also, self-reflection, which is simulated by making mistakes and learning from them or simply captivating in a conversation that involves some sort of mindfulness, is a flaming appreciation of life. Overall, life lessons through experiences will be another sign of Coming-of-Age films, with a more youthful person usually taking an important lesson from a parent or other significant older figure.

Something that is very famous in this genre, is how Producers tend to do include in these movies the circumstances and occasions related to the introduction of the teenager into new spaces of their psychological and social experience. They do this by displaying adult-like experiences with the delights and riks of their current life situation. One of the ways they do this is by doing voiceovers throughout the movie. They do this Mainly used to provide a deeper understanding of the emotions and thoughts of the character. Producers rely on the character establishment of their own identity in these films as they grow up and show their shift in the film.

It was a brief study of the genre, yet very needed since it's important to understand the genre before jumping in and making a crazy mix that looks like a chipotle bowl!

What's Every teenagers favorite genre?

 You guessed it! yup the final decision is COMING OF AGE!!! Today Sabrina and I decided that we are going to be working on creating a Coming of age film opening for sure. We're still not sure about the story that we're going to film about yet, but here is one of the ideas that we have in mind!

I believe I had already mentioned this idea on one of the other blogs, I mentioned this idea to Sabrina and we decided that she's going to come up with another idea and well decide from there what we will be doing for the film opening!

 Sofia here once again, oh god this doesn't get old!! 

    So... I have some news about the project, I think I have a very solid idea of what I might end up doing! First off I want to announce, that I'm actually going to be working with someone throughout the making of this film opening, which is something that I didn't mention before and is very important since I also have to give credit to my partner! Sabrina and I have worked on some other projects before in the class, and she's so nice and creative I cant wait for the final result of this project already!

We have been discussing many types of genres that we would like to base our film opening on and gladly, we have very similar ideas! She has mentioned some interesting ideas that we could use in the project. We both want to do something with a coming of age as a main genre and have a subgenre that could be either mystery, drama, romance.

I will soon update you guys on what we decide to do as our subgenre and some of the ideas we have that could be part of our soon-to-be film opening!

Indecisively decisive

 Hey again!! here's another blog about "The" Portfolio project, I've been excited and nervous about! So basically, now I have some cool ideas that would be great for this film opening. I was thing of maybe go for either for the drama genre or the coming of age movie or even a combo of both!

What I'm thinking most about doing, is the story of a girl, who decides to leave her toxic household, and her old routines behind, and with her brother, they start a clothing business, along the way, they have to find a place to stay, the name of their brand and their products, and even the style of the clothing they want to sell. That is one of my ideas that could be interesting and fun to make!

Or I could also do something along the lines of the Movie of "Perks of being a wildflower" 

This is one of my favorites movies and I would love to create something similar to this movie. But of course different types of characters, and plot! Maybe about two best friends that end up living together because one of them lost his family in an accident, these boys decide to go to these crazy parties because their friends are older than them and just want to fit in, but really one of the boys wants to go out and party while the other one fakes his happiness since the loss of his family hit him super hard. 

I honestly don't know yet, but I love both of these ideas and I will for sure keep you guys updated on what I will end up doing because, I will probably not use any of these, or maybe I will!

And so it begins...

     Hey there! Sofia here again, I'm here to announce that I'm probably going to be way more consistent with my blog posts! This is because I have officially started my journey towards my final project that I need for my AICE Media Studies course, as I mentioned a while ago. I am beyond excited and a little nervous since this is such an amazing project that's definitely going to test my creativity levels! As of right now, the only thing in my mind is research! I will need a  lot of inspiration to complete this project since I have to create it from scratch, which is the reason I'm nervous!

    If I'm being honest, I think the most challenging part of this project is starting it. There are so many options and types of genres that my video opening could be about... Sci-Fi? Drama? Coming of age, maybe even horror. It's not only about the genre, what story do I want to show my audience? At this moment my mind is just full of questions that will probably be answered soon in my other blog posts. This is a long project, which means I have time to prepare myself and take some time to understand what I like and don't. Welcome to a piece of my mind, especially the right side of it, just, in form of a blog, where you'll get to see the process of this project, my crazy ideas, failures, and success of it as I create it! So excited to take you with me on this journey and hope the results will be as good as I imagine them!

MUSIC MARKETING #2!

     The music marketing project was full of research, brainstorming planning, and group work. Here I will be explaining not very briefly, so get ready for a not very short read!

    Firstly my teammates and I were assigned the Country music genre, none of us were familiar at all with this genre, so we got straight into researching. We researched two music record companies, which included Warner Records and Capital Records Nashville.

 

     When it comes to Capitol records Nashville, our group researched some important country artists as well. Country bands like Little big town and Hootie and Blowfish that have also acomplished many great things in the music industry, like a  #1 hit on a billboard board and and even some Grammys.We deeply researched these artists and their accomplishment sthrough their careers, just so it would be more easy for us to create marketing stategies for our band and future references.

    On the same note, some country artists like Blake Shelton and Dan and Shay are part of warner records. Both of these artists have accomplished many things, from winning several awards to touring inside of the US. We also did research on some of these artists marketing strategies and how they get their music out to the world.

    After all of our research on the topic, these companies, their marketing strategies, and artists, the fun part of the project started, brainstorming. As we all worked online, the brainstorming was somehow difficult since of course, it is way easier to get an idea out there when we're all face to face working together, but who doesn't like a challenge? First we decided on the song that our band was going to release, we chose "Need you now" and after choosing our first single, we decided on the name of our music band, which we came to the conclusion for it to be "Light of sunshine"

    We decided the name of the band for the aesthetic of country music perfectly, basic and simple. Our teammate, Sabrina Olivieri, made the logo that you see here to the right and worked on the album cover and most of our digital networks like Instagram, Twitter, and the web page which I will attach below:

    After we had done all of the things mentioned above, the next thing we did was the storyboard, I took the lead on this task. I  talked to my group about some ideas and we decided on doing a storyline for the video since the lyrics of the song were so meaningful. A story of a heartbreak in about 3 minutes, honestly, the story I had in mind and that was in the storyboard, wasn't quite what we ended up doing in the video. My other teammate Kenneth Mathison, and I both met up safely and took the footage that was needed for the video, while we followed the storyboard that I had made. We both worked pretty well together when it was time to record, after that we both uploaded the footage to a google drive so our teammate, Alexa could edit it together! The editing part was a little confusing to Alexa so she tried her best to match the footage with the story the best she could, either way, it came out pretty good and we were all satisfied with her work!

    The post-production was so relieving, the only thing that we were missing was the presentation! we were basically done and we were all so happy that our hard work would pay off as soon as we presented. We all worked on the presentation a little but Sabrina definitely took the lead since she had all the pictures of the logos, webpages, and social media. I helped her out with some of the information on the slideshow, and when it was done, we decided who was going to present what slide. We tried to choose the slides we all knew a little bit more than the others so it felt more professional. When our time to present came, we tried to be engaging with our audience and tried to not read right from the presentation so everything could be smoother and entertaining. Finally, we could say that our presentation went pretty well, we had a few technical difficulties when it came to presenting the website but besides from that, we did a good job together. 

Music Marketing #1

 Me and my group are marketing a country band. We started to do our research on country music, where we learned about the industry, the origin of country music, and some of their singers because none of us had any type of knowledge about this genre of music. We all learned so many new things about country that we had no knowledge of and it was pretty interesting, we listened to some songs, and even enjoyed some of them.

Moving on from our research, some of our group members and I worked on talking about some marketing strategies that we could use to show the band to the public. Our group decided that we should do some more research to exactly know how Country bands are marketed so we can have an idea of what to do. Some of the things we had in mind were, creating an Instagram account for the band, where the audience can see most of the songs announcements, some behind the scenes with the band and others. We also decided that we're going to be creating a website for the band where there will be more in-depth information about them, their logo, album cover, and facts about the band, we already started working on this and I'm so happy about the outcome. My teammate Sabrina will take the lead on this one and the others will give her some ideas too. 

After figuring out everything that was talked about above, we will start storyboarding and brainstorming ideas on what we want the music video to look like. All of us are going to contribute with some ideas, while I will be in charge of the storyboard. After the storyboard is done we will begin to film and edit... the most exciting part of the project not going to lie! I think it's going to work out great since all of the group has contributed with something and we have been working together perfectly. I will mostly be working on the research, storyboard, brainstorming for the video of course, and some editing. Alexa and I will try to work together on collecting the footage and the editing of the music video and we will try our best to make it appealing to the audience! I'm so excited about this project and its finished product.
